Adventurer LP: Truck Bed Campers Recalled for Propane Leak and Fire Risk

Summary

Adventurer LP is recalling approximately 263 truck bed campers, specifically the 2021-2022 models of the Adventurer 19RD, 23RB, and 24DS. The service valves on the liquid petroleum gas (LPG) tanks may have improper thread depth, which can result in a propane leak. If propane leaks near an ignition source, it can cause a fire. Dealers will inspect and replace these service valves free of charge to resolve the issue.

Risk

The service valves on the propane tanks may fail to seal properly due to incorrect thread depth, allowing propane gas to escape. A leak of flammable propane in the presence of an ignition source significantly increases the risk of a fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle to see if it is one of the affected 2021-2022 Adventurer 19RD, 23RB, or 24DS truck bed camper models.
  2. If your camper is affected, contact Adventurer customer service at 1-509-895-7064 to discuss the recall and locate an authorized dealer for inspection.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized dealer to have the LPG tank service valves inspected and, if necessary, replaced free of charge.
  4. For additional information or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
