Summary

Pro Performance is recalling about 52,000 SKLZ Recoil 360™ All-Position Resistance Trainers. A weld on the belt ring can break during use, causing the 8-foot flexible cord to snap back and hit a partner or coach. There have been three reports of serious injuries including blunt trauma, a puncture wound, and a laceration. These trainers were sold for about $40 at major sporting goods stores like Dick’s and Academy Sports, as well as online at Amazon and SKLZ.com between January 2013 and December 2014. Consumers should immediately stop using these products and contact the company for a free replacement.

Risk

When the weld on the belt ring breaks, the tension in the stretched cord causes it to retract at high speed toward the person holding the safety handle. This unexpected impact can cause severe blunt force trauma, deep puncture wounds, or lacerations.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your resistance trainer belt to see if 'SKLZ' is followed by an arrow. Only belts where the 'SKLZ' text is followed by an arrow (pointing toward the 'Z') are included in this recall. Belts with the arrow before the 'SKLZ' are safe to keep using.
  2. Immediately stop using the recalled SKLZ Recoil 360™ All-Position Resistance Trainers.
  3. Contact Pro Performance/SKLZ toll-free at (877) 225-7275 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to arrange for a free replacement trainer.
  4. Alternatively, visit www.sklz.com and click on 'Product Recall: Recoil 360TM' at the bottom of the home page to begin the replacement process.
