Summary

Autocar, LLC is recalling 605 of its 2023 ACX (Xpeditor) and DC (Legend) vehicles because the hardware securing the powertrain driveline center support bearing may not have been properly tightened. If this hardware is loose, the driveline can detach from the vehicle while in motion. Dealers will inspect and either secure or replace the support bearing hardware as needed, free of charge. Owners were originally notified by mail starting October 6, 2023.

Risk

If the powertrain driveline becomes improperly secured and detaches, the vehicle will experience a sudden loss of drive power. This loss of propulsion while driving significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2023 Autocar ACX (Xpeditor) or 2023 Autocar DC (Legend) vehicle.
  2. Contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 to determine if your specific vehicle is included in this recall (Reference recall numbers ACX-2309 or DC-2305).
  3. If your vehicle is affected, schedule an appointment with an authorized Autocar dealer for a free inspection and repair of the powertrain driveline support bearing hardware.
  4. For additional information or to check your VIN, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
