Ford Motor Company: 2024 Ranger and Lincoln Nautilus Recalled for Power Window Pinch Risk

Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 70,483 vehicles, including certain 2024 Ranger and 2024 Lincoln Nautilus models. These vehicles feature a 'global closing' window system that may fail to automatically reverse if an object or limb is detected while the window is closing. Ford dealers will provide a free software update for both the driver and passenger door modules to correct this defect.

Risk

The power windows may not detect an obstruction, causing them to exert excessive force and pinch a driver or passenger before retracting. This failure to comply with federal safety standards increases the risk of pinching or crushing injuries to fingers or hands.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your registration for the 2024 Ford Ranger or 2024 Lincoln Nautilus.
  2. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealership to schedule a free service appointment to update the driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) software.
  3. You may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24C24 for more information.
  4. For additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
