Ford Motor Company: E-350 and E-450 Vehicles Recalled for Power Steering Line Detachment

Summary

Ford is recalling approximately 16,543 model year 2021-2022 E-350 and E-450 vehicles equipped with dual rear wheels. A loose connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit can cause a sudden and complete loss of power steering fluid. Owners should be aware that even if their vehicle was serviced under a previous recall (number 22V-089), they must still have this new repair completed. Ford dealers will replace the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line for free to resolve the issue.

Risk

If the steering line detaches, the vehicle will suddenly lose both power steering assist and power brake assist. This makes the vehicle much harder to steer and stop, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2021-2022 Ford E-350 or E-450 equipped with dual rear wheels.
  2. Check your vehicle's VIN on the NHTSA website or contact a Ford dealer to see if recall 24S07 (NHTSA ID 24V097) applies to your vehicle, especially if it was previously serviced for a similar issue under recall 22V-089.
  3. Contact a Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free appointment to have the power steering pressure line and the hydroboost jumper line replaced.
  4. If you have questions, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24S07.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
