Summary

Porsche is recalling approximately 41,345 vehicles across various model years due to a defect in the portable 220V/240V industrial charging cables. When these cables are used at the 100% charge setting, some home power outlets may be unable to handle the electrical current, causing the outlet or the charging cable itself to overheat. Porsche is offering a free replacement cable that includes an integrated temperature sensor to prevent this issue.

Risk

An overheated outlet or charging cable can ignite nearby materials, significantly increasing the risk of a home or vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the 220V/240V compact or portable charging cable for your vehicle.
  2. Only use the 110V home charging cable or public charging stations until your replacement cable is received.

  4. If you have further questions, contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 and reference recall number APB6.
