Summary

Altec Industries is recalling 535 commercial utility vehicles, including 2022-2023 Aerial Devices and D-series Digger Derricks. These vehicles may have been manufactured with a power inverter that converts electrical DC power to AC power but lacks a necessary circuit breaker to protect the AC output circuit. Owners will receive a free installation of a 20-amp circuit breaker to resolve the issue.

Risk

Without a dedicated circuit breaker, the AC electrical circuit can overheat during operation. This overheating creates a significant fire risk, which can damage the vehicle and endanger the operator or bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is part of the recall by checking the model and year: 2022-2023 Altec Aerial Devices (AT, TA, L44, L45, LR8, AA, AM, AN) or D-series Digger Derricks (DH, DL, DM, DT).
  2. Contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 to schedule a free repair. Refer to Altec recall number CSN 3103 during the call.
  3. Bring the vehicle to an authorized service center where a 20-amp circuit breaker will be installed in the AC circuit at no cost to you.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
