Summary

Polestar Automotive USA, Inc. is recalling 27,816 Polestar 2 vehicles from the 2021 through 2025 model years. The rearview camera image may fail to display on the center screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse, preventing the driver from seeing the area behind the car. Dealers will provide a free software update to resolve the issue, and owners who had their vehicles repaired under previous recalls 24V477 or 25V280 must still have this new repair performed.

Risk

A rearview camera that does not display significantly reduces the driver's visibility while backing up, which increases the likelihood of a crash or hitting a pedestrian or object.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall involves 2021-2025 Polestar 2 vehicles where the rearview camera may not activate when shifted into reverse.
  2. Check your vehicle's inclusion by visiting NHTSA.gov and entering your 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN); please note that VINs for this specific recall are expected to be searchable in the system beginning April 20, 2026.
  3. If your vehicle was already repaired under previous recalls numbered 24V477 or 25V280, you must still visit a dealer to receive this new software update to ensure the camera system works properly.
  4. Contact an authorized Polestar dealer to schedule a free software update to fix the rearview camera display software.
  5. For further information, contact Polestar customer service at 1-800-806-2504 and reference Polestar's internal recall number RP1069.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional safety information.
