Summary

Polaris is recalling about 2,800 model year 2014 through 2017 Scrambler XP 1000 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). The throttle release switch on these vehicles can fail, which may lead to a loss of control and a crash. Polaris has received nine reports of this switch failing, including two minor injuries. The affected ATVs were sold in black, lime, red, and white colors at Polaris dealers nationwide between April 2013 and June 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using these vehicles and contact a dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The throttle release switch can fail during operation, preventing the rider from properly managing vehicle speed or causing unexpected behavior. This failure poses a significant crash hazard to the rider and has already resulted in nine reported incidents and two minor injuries.
