Polaris is recalling approximately 27,300 model year 2021 RZR XP Turbo and RZR Turbo S recreational off-road vehicles sold in two-seat and four-seat configurations. The vehicles' clutches can fracture and eject fragments, which has resulted in 206 reports of failures, including six fires, two injuries, and one vehicle tip-over. Affected vehicles were sold in black, blue, gray, lime, orange, and sand colors from December 2019 through September 2022. Consumers can receive a free primary clutch replacement at authorized Polaris dealers.
The vehicle's clutch can break apart during use, causing high-speed fragments to be ejected. This creates a risk of hit-and-run style injuries to occupants or bystanders and can spark fires if the fragments damage the fuel system or other flammable components.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled vehicles and contact Polaris or an authorized Polaris dealer to schedule a free repair. The dealer will replace the primary (drive) clutch free of charge. Polaris has notified consumers to stop riding the vehicles and is notifying all dealers and registered owners directly to provide more details about the repair.
The VIN is located on the vehicle's frame in the left rear wheel well. Includes some vehicles previously recalled in November 2020 and December 2021.
