Polaris and Bobcat Utility Vehicles Recalled for Seat Belt Anchor Defect

Summary

Polaris and Bobcat are recalling approximately 2,500 model year 2024 Ranger, ProXD, and Bobcat utility vehicles because a defective weld can cause the passenger-side seat belt bracket to break away from the frame. The firm has identified three reports of improper welds, although no injuries have been reported to date. These off-road and utility vehicles were sold nationwide at Polaris and Bobcat dealers between November 2023 and August 2024 for between $17,800 and $32,700.

Risk

The passenger-side seat belt anchor point can separate from the vehicle frame during use or in a collision. This poses a serious injury hazard because the passenger could be struck by the loose bracket or the seat belt could fail to restrain them during a crash.
