Summary

Polaris has recalled approximately 13,200 Ranger, PRO XD, and Bobcat utility vehicles due to an improperly manufactured clutch component. This defect can cause the engine braking feature to fail, leading to unexpected vehicle motion and a serious crash hazard. There have been 14 reports of unexpected motion or drive clutch locking, including one crash that resulted in property damage. The recall affects various 2019-2020 models sold in multiple colors including maroon, black, sand, green, orange, blue, camo, gray, and white. Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact an authorized dealer for a free inspection and repair.

Risk

A faulty clutch component can prevent the engine's braking system from working correctly. This can cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly while in use, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled off-road and utility vehicles.
  2. Locate your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stamped into the left rear vehicle frame below the cargo box to see if it is included in the recall.
  3. Check the sides of the rear cargo area for 'POLARIS PRO XD', 'Ranger', or 'Bobcat' and the front grille for the 'POLARIS' stamp to identify the brand.
  4. Contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair. You can reach Polaris at 800-765-2747 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or check your VIN online at www.polaris.com under 'Off Road Safety Recalls'.
  5. For additional questions or to report further incidents, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
