Summary

Polaris has recalled approximately 760 Model Year 2019 Pro XD utility vehicles in two- and four-seat configurations, including models 4000D, 2000D, and 2000D 4X2. The rear brake line on these vehicles can be punctured, leading to a total failure of the rear brakes. Polaris has received eight reports of rear brake failures, though no injuries or crashes have been reported. These vehicles were sold at Polaris dealers nationwide from November 2017 through November 2019.

Risk

A punctured brake line can cause the rear brakes to fail suddenly, significantly increasing the distance required to stop and posing a high risk of collisions or crashes for the operator and passengers.

What You Should Do

  1. Locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the label affixed to the vehicle frame in the left front wheel well to see if your vehicle is affected.
  2. Identify your vehicle model and model number: look for models 4000D (D19BEPD4B4), 2000D (D19BBPD4B4), or 2000D 4X2 (D19BAPD4B4).
  3. Immediately stop using any recalled utility vehicle to avoid the risk of brake failure.
  4. Contact a Polaris dealer to schedule a free inspection and repair of the rear brake line.
  5. You can contact Polaris directly at 800-765-2747 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit www.polaris.com and click on 'Off Road Safety Recalls' for more information.
  6. Call the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772 for additional questions about this recall.
