Summary

Terex South Dakota, Inc. is recalling 194 aerial devices, including 2019-2022 models TL80, TL80/112, and TL100. The recall is due to a defect where the welds for the platform leveling cylinder support bosses may crack, potentially causing the support pin to fail. This failure can allow the platform to tip unexpectedly during operation. To resolve this, dealers will install reinforcement plates to the cylinder bosses and replace the hydraulic storage latch on TL80/112 models free of charge.

Risk

The welds supporting the platform can crack and fail, causing the leveling cylinder support pin to break. If this occurs while a worker is in the platform, the platform can tip, potentially throwing the occupant or causing them to fall, which increases the risk of serious injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2019-2022 Terex TL80, TL80/112, or TL100 aerial device.
  2. Contact a Terex South Dakota, Inc. dealer to schedule a free repair; dealers will install reinforcement plates on the boom tip leveling cylinder bosses.
  3. If you own a TL80/112 model, ensure the dealer also replaces the hydraulic storage latch for the elevator at no cost.
  4. Contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000 and reference recall number SN712 if you have questions about your specific unit.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
