Summary

PlanToys is recalling about 500 wooden Baby Gyms because babies can become strangled by the side rope crossbars. The tan wooden gyms have four legs and two space-themed mobiles hanging from the top bar. They were sold at specialty toy stores and online at retailers like Diapers.com and Target.com between September 2016 and May 2017. Consumers should immediately stop using these gyms and contact PlanToys for a free replacement.

Risk

The side rope crossbars on the gym's legs pose a strangulation hazard to infants playing under or near the gym. While no injuries have been reported, the ropes are positioned in a way that could catch around a child's neck.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your baby gym for the manufacturing date code printed on the top corner joint connecting ball. Affected gyms have codes ranging from TH 080116 through TH 082916.
  2. Identify the product by its tan wood construction, four legs with different colored balls (pink, orange, yellow, and purple) in the middle, and two space-themed mobiles (a planet and a rocket) hanging from the top bar.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled baby gym and move it out of reach of children.
  4. Contact PlanToys for a free replacement baby gym by calling toll-free at 866-517-7526 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or by emailing Michael@plantoysinc.com.
  5. You can also visit www.PlanToys.com and click on 'Safety' at the bottom of the page for more information and to request your replacement.
  6. For additional questions or to report an incident, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
