Summary

PetSmart is recalling approximately 23,000 All Living Things reptile strip light fixtures because the fluorescent bulbs can overheat. This overheating can cause the fixture's hood to ignite, which has been reported six times. These 20-inch and 30-inch black light fixtures were sold nationwide between March 2017 and July 2018 for between $35 and $40. Consumers should stop using these fixtures immediately and return them to PetSmart for a full refund.

Risk

The fluorescent bulb in the fixture can become excessively hot, causing the plastic hood to catch fire. PetSmart has already received six reports of the light fixture hoods igniting.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the All Living Things reptile strip light fixture and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Check the packaging or the fixture size to determine if you have an affected unit: the 20-inch fixture has UPC 73725773305 and the 30-inch fixture has UPC 73725773306.
  3. Return the recalled light fixture to any PetSmart store location to receive a full refund.
