Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling 4,661 units of the 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid vehicles. These vehicles may have a pedestrian alert siren that is missing or disconnected, which prevents the car from making a warning sound when it is in reverse. Owners can have the siren connection inspected and secured or replaced by a dealer for free.

Risk

When the vehicle is backing up, the lack of an audible siren fails to warn pedestrians of the vehicle's presence, which significantly increases the risk of a collision and injury to people behind the car.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle records to determine if you own a 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet or an Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid.
  2. Contact an authorized FCA US, LLC (Chrysler) dealer to schedule a free inspection of your vehicle's rear pedestrian siren connection.
  3. If the siren is missing or the connector is loose, the dealer will secure the connection or replace the siren and connector at no cost to you.
  4. For more information, contact FCA US, LLC customer service at 1-800-853-1403 and mention recall number B5A.
  5. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
