Honda (American Honda Motor Co.): 2023 CR-V Recalled for Improperly Welded Passenger Seat Back

Summary

Honda is recalling 98 of its 2023 CR-V vehicles because the front passenger seat back frame may not have been welded properly during manufacturing. This defect can cause the seat back to fail and shift position unexpectedly during a crash. To fix this issue, Honda dealers will replace the entire front passenger seat back frame assembly at no cost to owners.

Risk

If the seat back frame is not welded correctly, it may fail to stay in position during a collision, preventing the seat from properly restraining the passenger and significantly increasing the risk of injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website or by contacting Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 using recall number 6PK.
  2. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Honda dealer to have the front passenger seat back frame assembly replaced free of charge.
  3. If you have already received an owner notification letter (mailed around March 27, 2023), follow the instructions provided to arrange your repair.
  4. For additional information or questions, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
