Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 91 of its 2024-2025 IC Bus CE SBUS school buses that are equipped with Intellipark Park Valve Modules (PVM). These buses have a defective rubber ball seal in the park valve module that can break and leak air, causing the parking brake to either fail to hold the vehicle or engage suddenly while the bus is in motion. Navistar dealers will replace the affected modules with a new part free of charge to resolve the safety issue.

Risk

If the seal fractures, the parking brake may fail to stay engaged when the bus is parked or could unexpectedly activate while driving, both of which significantly increase the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking if it is a 2024-2025 IC Bus CE SBUS school bus equipped with an Intellipark Park Valve Module (PVM).
  2. Contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to verify if your specific vehicle is part of recall number 24507.
  3. Schedule an appointment with an authorized Navistar dealer to have the Intellipark Park Valve Module replaced free of charge.
  4. If you have additional questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
