Ford Motor Company: Transit Connect Recalled Due to Risk of Panoramic Roof Detaching

Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 1,315 model year 2017-2019 Transit Connect vehicles. These vehicles may have an improper bond between the panoramic roof and the vehicle body, which can cause the entire roof panel to detach while the vehicle is in motion. Ford dealers will remove, clean, and reinstall the panoramic roof panel at no cost to the owner to ensure a secure bond.

Risk

If the panoramic roof panel detaches while you are driving, it can become a significant road hazard for other drivers and increase the risk of a crash. This defect is caused by an inadequate adhesive bond between the glass and the vehicle structure.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your vehicle's identification number (VIN) for the 2017-2019 Ford Transit Connect models.
  2. Contact a local Ford dealership to schedule a free appointment to have the panoramic roof panel removed, cleaned, and properly reinstalled.
  3. For further assistance or to check for other open recalls on your vehicle, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and reference recall number 24S29.
  4. You may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
