Summary

Pacific Cycle is recalling approximately 11,340 Schwinn Tone 1, Tone 2, and Tone 3 electric scooters sold in black or white. These e-scooters were sold at bicycle shops nationwide, as well as on schwinnbikes.com and amazon.com between May 2020 and February 2021. The recall was initiated because the handlebar grips can loosen or crack, causing the handlebar to break during use.

Risk

The handlebar can break or loosen while the scooter is in motion, causing the rider to lose control and fall. There have been nine reports of cracked or loose handlebars, including one incident resulting in bruises and abrasions after a consumer fell.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using all models of the Schwinn Tone 1, Tone 2, and Tone 3 Electric Scooters.
  2. Locate the serial number on the bottom of the scooter's board to confirm your unit is part of the recall.
  3. Contact Pacific Cycle to receive a free repair kit by calling toll-free at 877-564-2261 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday, or online at https://www.pacific-cycle.com/safety-notices-recalls/.
  4. Follow the provided instructions to install the repair kit (estimated 5-10 minutes), or choose the alternative option to ship the e-scooter back to Pacific Cycle for repair at no cost to you.
  5. For further questions or concerns, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.

Your Remedy Options

๐Ÿ”งFree Repair

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled e-scooters and contact Pacific Cycle for a free repair kit. Consumers will need to provide the serial number of their scooter and a mailing address. The repair kit can be installed by the consumer and includes all required tools and instructions, which are also available in video format. Pacific Cycle estimates it will take consumers between five and ten minutes to install. Alternatively, consumers can ship the e-scooter back to Pacific Cycle for repair, at no cost to the consumer.
