Summary

About 225,000 Expert Gardener 12 amp electric blower vacuums are being recalled because they can overheat, spark, and catch fire. OWT Industries has received 16 reports of these devices sparking, smoking, or burning during use. These green and black tools were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online between January 2012 and March 2015 for approximately $40. Consumers should immediately stop using these units and return them to any Walmart store for a full refund.

Risk

The internal components of the motor housing can overheat and arc, causing the plastic casing to melt or ignite. This poses a significant risk of fire and can cause serious burn injuries to the user if the device catches fire while being held.

What You Should Do

  1. Check the label on the left side of the green motor housing for one of the following model numbers: 20254EG, 20254EGA, 20254EGB, 20254EGBC, 20254EGC, or 21254EG.
  2. Verify that your device is green and black with 'Expert Gardener' and 'Blower Vac 2 Speed Quiet 150 MPH Powerful 220 MPH' printed on the motor housing and the black tube.
  3. Stop using the recalled blower vacuum immediately to prevent overheating and fire hazards.
  4. Return the affected blower vacuum to any Walmart store for a full refund.
