Summary

Marion Body Works Inc. is recalling 25 of its 2020-2022 Pumper, Rescue, Aerial, and RPM vehicles that are equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes. The software in these electrical nodes may fail to shut off power during a short circuit or wiring failure, causing electrical circuits to become overloaded. Marion will work with the equipment manufacturer, Weldon, to provide a free firmware update to resolve the issue.

Risk

The overloaded electrical circuits can overheat significantly, which increases the risk of a vehicle fire even when the vehicle is in use or parked.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is a 2020-2022 Marion Pumper, Rescue, Aerial, or RPM model and check if it is equipped with Weldon 8X16 Input-Output nodes.
  2. Contact Marion Body Works customer service at 1-715-754-5261 to verify if your specific unit is affected by this recall and to schedule a free firmware update.
  3. Confirm with the service department that the firmware for the Weldon 8X16 node will be updated to ensure the output pins shut off correctly during a short circuit.
  4. For additional information, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
