Summary

OFT, Inc. (operating as Whakyung Foods, Inc.) is recalling approximately 67,232 pounds of commercial-use Beef Leg Bone Extract and Beef Concentrate with Salt products. These products, manufactured by CJ Nutracon Ltd in Australia and Taranaki Bio Extracts Ltd in New Zealand, were imported and sold in 44-pound bags within brown cardboard boxes. The recall was issued because these items were not presented for required U.S. import inspection at the point of entry.

Risk

Because these products bypassed the mandatory U.S. import inspection, there is a possibility of adverse health consequences as the safety and quality of the meat could not be verified by federal authorities. No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your inventory for 44-pound brown cardboard boxes of Beef Leg Bone Extract or Beef Concentrate with Salt labeled with establishment numbers 'Est. 662' (Australia) or 'TBE1' (New Zealand).
  2. Identify affected Australian products by Lot Numbers 2040015 or 1020116, and check for the identifier 'Est. 662 PRODUCT OF AUSTRALIA' on the label.
  3. Identify affected New Zealand products by Batch Number '1417H-usa' and Shipping No 'TBE310022015', and look for the 'New Zealand TBE1 Inspected' certification.
  4. Immediately stop using the recalled products and contact the manufacturer for instructions on return or disposal.
  5. If you have experienced any adverse reaction or health concerns after using these products, contact a healthcare provider.
  6. For additional questions, contact Jason Lee, President of OFT, Inc, at (702) 778-6401 or the USDA Meat & Poultry Hotline at 1-888-674-6854.
