Summary

About 6,900 European plug heads for NVIDIA SHIELD power adaptors are being recalled because the plug heads can break, exposing metal prongs and creating a danger of electric shock. These plug heads were included with NVIDIA SHIELD World Charger Kits, tablet computers, and TVs intended for use in Europe. While no injuries have occurred in the U.S., there have been nine reports of breaking overseas, including six reports of consumers receiving electrical shocks. Consumers should immediately stop using these plug heads and contact NVIDIA for a free replacement.

Risk

The plastic housing on the plug head can break and separate, exposing the internal metal prongs which pose a direct electric shock hazard to anyone who touches them while the adaptor is plugged in.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your NVIDIA power adaptor for model number SPA011AU5W2 and the NVIDIA name and logo etched on the side.
  2. Identify if you have the affected European plug head, which has two thin round metal prongs inside a black plastic hexagonal extender on a black plastic base plate.
  3. Immediately stop using the recalled European plug heads.
  4. Contact NVIDIA at 800-797-6530 anytime or visit www.nvidia.com and click on 'Support' at the top of the page to request a free replacement plug head.
  5. For additional questions, you may contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
