Summary

Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling 51 of its 2026 LEAF vehicles because the high voltage battery may have internal damage. This damage can cause a short circuit within the battery module, which significantly increases the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the affected battery modules or the entire battery assembly free of charge to resolve the safety issue.

Risk

A short circuit in the high voltage battery can lead to a fire even when the vehicle is not in use. Because of this risk, owners should park their vehicles outdoors and away from structures until the repair is completed.

What You Should Do

  1. Park this vehicle outdoors, away from structures — do NOT park in a garage due to fire risk.
  2. Do not charge your vehicle until the recall remedy has been completed by a dealer.

  4. If you have questions, contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261 and reference recall number R25F1.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov/recalls for additional information.
