Summary

Nissan is recalling approximately 323,917 of its 2023-2025 Rogue vehicles equipped with 1.5L VC-Turbo engines. High operating temperatures can cause engine oil to break down, which may lead to damaged engine bearings and total engine failure. Dealers will reprogram the engine control module, inspect for trouble codes, and may replace the engine if metal debris is found in the oil pan, all free of charge.

Risk

If the engine bearings fail, the vehicle may lose drive power while moving, increasing the risk of a crash. In some cases, a bearing failure can cause the engine block to break, allowing hot oil to leak and significantly increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov website beginning February 27, 2026, to see if your 2023-2025 Nissan Rogue is included in this recall.
  2. Contact an authorized Nissan dealer to schedule a free service appointment for an engine control module (ECM) software update and engine inspection.
  3. If the dealer identifies metal debris during the inspection of the oil pan, they will replace the engine at no cost to you.
