Summary

myCharge has recalled seven models of its portable powerbanks, including the Adventure Mega, Razor Mega, Razor Super, and Razor Xtreme series. These powerbanks, which have anodized metallic cases in blue, black, or gray, were sold at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and other retailers between August 2018 and December 2019. The recall was issued because the internal lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, creating a serious fire hazard; consumers should immediately stop using these devices and contact myCharge for a refund in the form of an electronic voucher plus a 25% bonus.

Risk

The powerbank's lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards to users. myCharge has received 30 reports of overheating, resulting in seven injuries including burns to the upper body, hands, legs, and feet, as well as property damage to household flooring, walls, and furniture.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled powerbanks and do not attempt to charge them or use them to charge other devices.
  2. Identify if your powerbank is affected by checking the model name and number on the back of the case and the date code printed on the case (or under the top flap for Adventure Mega models). Recalled models include Adventure Mega (AVC20KG-A), Razor Mega (RZ20KK-A), Razor Super (RZ24NK-A), and Razor Xtreme (RZPD26BK-A) with specific date codes from 2018 and 2019.
  3. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled powerbanks and contact myCharge for instructions on returning the battery to obtain a refund in the form of an electronic voucher for the full purchase price plus a 25% bonus for redemption on www.mycharge.com.
  4. Contact myCharge toll-free at 888-251-2026 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email at compliance@mycharge.com, or online at https://mycharge.com/pages/productsafety for more information on the return process.
