Summary

Altec Industries is recalling approximately 1,967 vehicles including 2016-2022 DM, DH, DC, DL, D2000, D3000, and D4000 series digger derricks and AM55 aerial devices. Some of these units were manufactured with a missing weld at the base of the rear pole rack. Altec will inspect the mounting plates and perform any necessary welding repairs free of charge.

Risk

A missing weld on the rear pole rack can cause the metal to crack over time. This structural failure could cause the heavy pole and its supporting rack to suddenly drop in height, which increases the risk of injury to workers or bystanders.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is part of this recall by checking for these specific Altec models: 2016-2022 DM, DH, DC, DL, D2000, D3000, and D4000 series digger derricks, or AM55 aerial devices.
  2. Contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832 to schedule a free inspection of the rear pole rack mounting plate. Reference recall number CSN 3064.
  3. If the inspection reveals a missing or insufficient weld, Altec will perform the necessary repair welds at no cost to you.
  4. For additional questions or to check your VIN, contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
