Summary

Lode-King Industries, Ltd. is recalling approximately 38 steel step deck semi-trailers from the 2016-2023 model years. Affected models include Lode King and Prestige SDE and SDF trailers equipped with a beavertail style ramp. These trailers may have been manufactured with missing welds on the cargo securement winches located at the rear of the trailer, which can cause the winch mount to fail. Owners can have the missing welds added by a dealer free of charge.

Risk

If the cargo winch mount fails, the cargo it is securing can fall off the trailer and onto the road. This creates an immediate hazard for other drivers, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if you own a 2016-2023 Lode King or Prestige SDE or SDF model steel step deck semi-trailer equipped with a beavertail style ramp.
  2. Inspect the cargo securement winches located on the rear of the trailer for any signs of incomplete or missing welds on the winch frame.
  3. Contact Lode-King/Prestige customer service toll-free at 1-866-797-0669 or at 1-204-325-4345 to schedule a free repair.
  4. Visit an authorized dealer to have the missing weld added to the end of the winch frame at no cost to you.
  5. If you have further questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
