Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling 43,438 vehicles, including certain 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid models and 2025 Ford Explorer hybrid police vehicles. A software error may prevent these vehicles from emitting a mandatory pedestrian warning sound at certain speeds. To fix this, dealers will update the vehicle's audio and digital signal software, or the update can be completed automatically through an over-the-air (OTA) update at no cost to owners.

Risk

If a vehicle does not produce an external warning sound, pedestrians may be unaware of an approaching vehicle. This significantly increases the risk of the vehicle striking a pedestrian and causing injury.

What You Should Do

  1. This recall affects certain 2024-2026 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid vehicles and 2025 Ford Explorer hybrid police vehicles.
  2. Check your vehicle's 17-character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at www.nhtsa.gov/recalls to determine if your specific car is affected.
  3. Watch for a software update notification on your vehicle's display, as this repair can be completed through an over-the-air (OTA) update.
  4. Alternatively, contact any authorized Ford or Lincoln dealer to schedule a free manual software update for the audio control and digital signal processing modules.
  5. Contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and mention recall number 25SA2 for more information.
  6. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for further assistance.
