Summary

Mazda North American Operations is recalling 226 units of 2020-2021 Mazda2 vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured without adjustment prevention caps on the headlights, which can allow the headlights to be incorrectly aimed. Dealers will install the missing caps on the headlight assemblies free of charge to ensure the vehicles comply with federal safety standards.

Risk

If headlights are improperly adjusted, they can reduce the driver's visibility of the road or cause glare for oncoming traffic, both of which increase the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle registration or VIN to confirm if you own a 2020 or 2021 Mazda2 vehicle.
  2. Contact an authorized Mazda dealer to schedule a free appointment for the installation of the headlight adjustment prevention caps.
  3. If you are located in the United States, you may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 (Option 6) and refer to recall number 5622K.
  4. If you are located in Puerto Rico, you may contact Mazda customer service at 1-787-620-7546 and refer to recall number 5622K.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
