PACCAR Incorporated: Peterbilt 579 Trucks Recalled Due to Detaching Hood Mirrors

Summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling approximately 2,565 Peterbilt 579 trucks from the 2022-2023 model years. The molded hood mirror assemblies on these vehicles can break at the pivot joint and, if they are not secured by a wire harness or tether, they can fall off the vehicle onto the road. Dealers will inspect the mirrors and replace the assembly if necessary, completely free of charge.

Risk

A mirror that detaches while driving can fall directly into the roadway, becoming a serious hazard for other drivers and significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is a 2022-2023 Peterbilt 579 model affected by this recall.
  2. Contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4220 to verify if your specific truck is included in recall number 22PBF.
  3. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized Peterbilt dealer to have your molded hood mirror assemblies inspected for the presence of a wire harness or tether.
  4. If the dealer determines your mirror assembly is at risk of detaching, they will replace the assembly at no cost to you.
