Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling 932 of its 2026 model year GLE and GLS vehicles because the passenger air bag fabric may have been manufactured incorrectly. This defect can prevent the air bag from deploying as intended during a crash, which significantly reduces occupant protection. Dealers will replace the passenger air bag module free of charge to ensure the safety system functions correctly.

Risk

If the air bag fabric fails to deploy properly during a collision, it increases the risk of injury to the front-seat passenger. No incidents or injuries have been reported related to this issue.

What You Should Do

  1. Check if your vehicle is affected by searching your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on NHTSA.gov beginning April 3, 2026.
  2. Contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free replacement of the passenger air bag module.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
  4. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for additional information.
