Summary

Medtronic Neuromodulation has recalled 118 Wireless Recharger Kits because the rechargers may be unable to start a recharging session upon first use. This issue affects the RS6230, RS7230, and RS5220A kits used with Deep Brain Stimulation and Pelvic Health implantable neurostimulators. These products were distributed worldwide, including in 18 U.S. states and 15 countries, primarily through authorized medical distributors and hospitals.

Risk

If the wireless recharger fails to function, patients with implanted neurostimulators may be unable to maintain their therapy levels. This can lead to a loss of symptom control or potentially serious health complications depending on the specific condition being treated.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your Medtronic Recharger Kit for the following model numbers: RS6230, RS7230, or RS5220A. These kits contain wireless rechargers labeled as WR9230 or WR9220A.
  2. Review the serial number on your device to see if it matches one of the affected units. Affected RS6230 serial numbers include NRA010637N, NRA011389N, NRA013260N, and others ending in 'N'. Affected RS7230 serial numbers include NRA010640N, NRA010650N, and GTIN 0763000827533 serial numbers like NRA010558N.
  3. If you identify your recharger as part of the recall, contact your healthcare provider or Medtronic Neuromodulation immediately to verify your device and discuss receiving a replacement recharger.
  4. If your recharger is currently failing to initiate a session upon first use, seek medical guidance to ensure your neurostimulator therapy is not interrupted.
  5. For further information or questions regarding this recall, contact Medtronic Neuromodulation or the FDA at 1-888-463-6332 (1-888-INFO-FDA).
