Summary

Mahindra USA is recalling approximately 2,000 eMax compact diesel tractors (plus about 100 in Canada) because the fuel lines can crack, break, or leak. These red tractors with black seats were sold between March 2014 and September 2015. Mahindra has received 61 reports of cracks in the fuel tank pipes, although no injuries have been reported yet. Consumers should stop using these tractors immediately and contact an authorized dealer for a free repair.

Risk

The fuel tank pipe and fuel lines can develop cracks or leaks during use. This allows diesel fuel to escape, which poses a serious fire hazard to the operator and surrounding property.

What You Should Do

  1. Immediately stop using the recalled Mahindra eMax tractors until they have been repaired.
  2. Check your tractor's model number, which is printed in white lettering on both sides of the hood. Affected models include eMax 22G, eMax 22H, and eMax 25H.
  3. Verify your serial number by looking on the right side of the frame above the front axle. Recalled serial ranges are: 22GRH00001 through 22GRH00596 (22G), 22HRH00001 through 22HRH00710 (22H), and 25HRH00001 through 25HRH00816 (25H).
  4. Contact an authorized Mahindra dealer to schedule a free repair of the fuel line system. You can find a dealer or get more information by calling Mahindra toll-free at 877-449-7771 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday.
  5. Visit www.mahindrausa.com and click on 'Tractor Recall' for additional details and to use their online dealer locator.
  6. For further questions regarding this recall, contact the CPSC Hotline at 800-638-2772.
