Summary

LuMaZu, LLC (doing business as Nettle Meadow) has recalled 71 units (including cases and individual items) of various Fromage Frais artisan cheeses. During a routine inspection, it was discovered that the pasteurization temperature for two lots was not recorded due to a malfunction with the recorder chart. Consumers who purchased these products should return them to the store for a full refund or dispose of them.

Risk

A failure to record pasteurization temperatures means the safety of the milk used in these cheeses cannot be verified. Improperly pasteurized dairy products can harbor harmful bacteria that cause foodborne illness.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your 5 oz. cheese packaging for the product names Fig Honey, Apple Cider, Roasted Red Pepper, Truffle, or Habanero Peach Fromage Frais.
  2. Look for identification codes NDC-6 or NDD-4 printed on the product labels to determine if your cheese is part of the recall.
  3. Return the product to the place of purchase for a refund, throw it away, or contact the manufacturer for further instructions.
  4. Call the FDA Consumer Complaint hotline at 1-888-723-3332 for more information.
