Summary

Excellance, Inc. is recalling 3 of its 2022 Freightliner M2 emergency vehicles due to a manufacturing defect. An extra resistor was incorrectly installed on a circuit board, which can interfere with the vehicle's internal computer communication. This interference can cause the vehicle's exterior lighting to fail suddenly, making the vehicle less visible to others. Dealers will replace the affected modules free of charge to resolve the issue.

Risk

The failure of vehicle lighting significantly reduces the driver's visibility and the ability of other motorists to see the emergency vehicle. This defect increases the risk of a crash, particularly during nighttime operations or in poor weather conditions.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is one of the 3 affected 2022 Freightliner M2 emergency vehicles manufactured by Excellance, Inc.
  2. Contact Excellance, Inc. customer service at 1-800-882-9799 to schedule a free replacement of the faulty circuit modules.
  3. If you experience any lighting failure while operating the vehicle, exercise extreme caution and pull over safely until the lighting is restored or the vehicle is serviced.
