Summary

Pierce Manufacturing is recalling 10 fire trucks from the 2022 model year, including M2-106, M2-112, and F550 models. These vehicles are equipped with Weldon V-mux Hercules HC Node 1.5 electrical modules that contain an incorrectly installed resistor on the circuit board. This defect can disrupt communication within the vehicle's electrical system, causing the exterior vehicle lighting to fail unexpectedly. Pierce Manufacturing and Weldon will replace these modules for affected owners free of charge.

Risk

If the vehicle lighting fails during operation, it significantly reduces the driver's visibility and makes the fire truck less visible to other motorists on the road, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is one of the 10 affected 2022 Pierce Manufacturing fire trucks (Models: M2-106, M2-112, or F550).
  2. Check your vehicle's equipment list to see if it is outfitted with a Weldon V-mux Hercules HC Node 1.5 electrical multiplex module.
  3. Contact Pierce's customer service at 1-888-974-3723 to schedule a free replacement of the faulty electrical modules. Refer to Pierce's recall number 74B320 during the call.
  4. For additional information or questions, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
