Summary

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 306 commercial vehicles, including various 2022-2023 FCCC Chassis, Freightliner, Thomas Built Bus, and Western Star models. These vehicles may have been manufactured with a missing tie rod fastener, which can cause the steering arm to detach while the vehicle is in operation. Owners of these vehicles should contact a Daimler Trucks North America dealer for a free inspection and necessary repair or replacement of the tie rod assembly.

Risk

A missing fastener allows the steering arm to detach from the vehicle. If this occurs, the driver will experience a sudden and complete loss of steering control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
