Summary

Ford Motor Company is recalling 11,922 model year 2023-2024 F-150 Lightning BEV (electric) vehicles. The front upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been tightened properly, which can allow the control arm to detach from the knuckle assembly. Ford dealers will inspect the nut and replace the nut and/or the knuckle assembly as needed at no cost to owners.

Risk

A detached front upper control arm can cause a sudden loss of vehicle steering and control, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle for any unusual steering behavior or noises from the front suspension, and contact a Ford dealer immediately if noticed.
  2. Verify if your 2023-2024 Ford F-150 Lightning BEV is affected by contacting Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 and referencing recall number 24S76.
  3. Schedule a free inspection and repair at an authorized Ford dealership: 'Dealers will inspect the upper control arm ball joint nut, and replace the nut and/or knuckle assembly, as necessary, free of charge.'
