Summary

Navistar, Inc. is recalling 573 of its 2025 International HV, HX, LT, MV, and RH commercial vehicles. The tie rod assemblies in these vehicles may contain ball studs that were incorrectly heat-treated during manufacturing, which can cause them to break and lead to tie rod failure. Dealers will replace the affected tie rod ends and re-align the front axle free of charge to ensure the vehicles are safe to operate.

Risk

If a tie rod fails while the vehicle is in motion, the driver may experience a sudden and complete loss of steering control. This failure significantly increases the risk of a crash, potentially leading to serious injury or property damage.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's make, model, and year to see if you own a 2025 International HV, HX, LT, MV, or RH vehicle.
  2. Contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825 to confirm if your specific vehicle is included in recall number 24511.
  3. Schedule a free appointment with an authorized dealer to have the tie rod end replaced and the front axle re-aligned.
  4. For additional information, you may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
