Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 23 replacement tie rod assemblies equipped with USK ball studs. These tie rods, which were sold as replacement parts, may have ball studs that were incorrectly heat-treated during manufacturing, causing them to be brittle. This defect can lead to the tie rods breaking suddenly during use, and dealers will inspect and replace the affected components free of charge.

Risk

If a tie rod fails while the vehicle is in motion, the driver can lose steering control completely. This failure significantly increases the likelihood of a crash or serious accident.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle service records or physical parts for replacement tie rod assemblies with part numbers A-13102E4737 or A-13102E4738 equipped with USK ball studs.
  2. If you identify an affected tie rod part, contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 to schedule a free inspection and replacement. Reference Volvo recall number RVXX2406.
