Summary

Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling 972 model year 2025 Mack AN, GR, and TE trucks because a critical steering component, the drag link, may fail. The drag link contains an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can break unexpectedly, resulting in a sudden and complete loss of steering control. Mack dealers will inspect and replace the drag links free of charge to resolve this safety issue.

Risk

The ball stud within the steering system can fail, causing the driver to lose the ability to steer the vehicle. Because this can happen suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the recall repair has been completed to prevent a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop driving this vehicle immediately and park it until the recall repair is completed.
  2. Verify if your vehicle is affected by checking for 2025 Mack AN, GR, or TE truck models.
  3. Contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 to arrange for a free inspection and replacement of the drag link; reference Mack recall number SC0465.
  4. Check your mail for the official owner notification letter, which Mack began mailing on June 20, 2024.
  5. Contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
