Summary

Volvo Trucks North America is recalling 3,502 of its 2025 VN, VNRe, and VHD trucks because a critical steering component called a drag link may fail. The drag link contains an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can break, leading to a sudden and complete loss of steering control. Owners are advised to stop driving these vehicles immediately until the necessary repair has been performed by a dealer.

Risk

A failure of the ball stud in the steering system can cause the driver to lose the ability to steer the truck. Because this can happen suddenly while the vehicle is in motion, it significantly increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Stop driving this vehicle immediately and park it until the recall repair is completed.
  2. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking for 2025 model year Volvo VN, VNRe, or VHD trucks.
  3. Contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586 to coordinate an inspection and repair. Reference Volvo recall number RVXX2402.
  4. Take your vehicle to an authorized dealer who will inspect and replace the drag links free of charge.
  5. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
