Summary

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling approximately 69 vehicles, including certain 2021-2022 GLE350, GLE450, and 2022 AMG GLE53, AMG GLE63, and GLS450 models. A locking screw in the steering system may loosen and detach, which can cause a sudden loss of steering control. Owners should contact an authorized dealer to have the steering coupling locking screw replaced for free.

Risk

If the steering coupling locking screw detaches from the steering gear, the driver will lose the ability to steer the vehicle, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Check your vehicle's registration or VIN to see if you own a 2021-2022 GLE350, GLE450, or a 2022 AMG GLE53, AMG GLE63, or GLS450.
  2. Contact a Mercedes-Benz dealer to schedule a free repair to have the steering coupling locking screw replaced.
  3. If you have further questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 and mention recall number 2022120016.
  4. For additional information, contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
