Summary

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 214 model year 2023 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks. These vehicles may have a defect in the transmission control unit where an insufficient weld can cause transmission fluid to leak onto electrical components. This leak can lead to a sudden loss of drive power or the inability to secure the vehicle in 'Park'. Chrysler dealers will replace the transmission valve body and control unit for all affected vehicles at no cost to the owners.

Risk

If the transmission fluid leaks onto electrical components, the vehicle may lose drive power while moving or fail to engage the 'Park' function when stopped, significantly increasing the risk of a crash or unintended vehicle roll-away.

What You Should Do

  1. Identify if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN on the NHTSA website or by contacting your local Ram dealer regarding the 2023 Ram 1500, 2500, or 3500 pickup truck models.
  2. If your vehicle is part of this recall, contact an authorized FCA US, LLC dealer to schedule a free replacement of the transmission valve body and control unit.
