Summary

Zero Motorcycles Inc. is recalling approximately 7 of its 2023 DSR/X motorcycles because the motor controller may have been built with incorrect fasteners. This defect causes higher electrical resistance at the busbar joint, which can lead to a sudden loss of drive power. Authorized dealers will replace the motor controller free of charge to resolve the issue.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power while the motorcycle is in motion can prevent the rider from maintaining speed or safely maneuvering, which increases the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. The recalled motorcycles are 2023 Zero DSR/X models that may contain incorrect motor controller fasteners.
  2. Check if your motorcycle is affected by searching your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA.gov/recalls website or by contacting an authorized Zero dealer.
  3. Contact an authorized Zero Motorcycles dealer to schedule a free replacement of the motor controller.
  4. For further information, contact Zero Motorcycles customer service at 1-888-841-8085 and reference recall number SV-RCL-025-021.
  5. Call the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov with any additional safety concerns.
