Summary

Motiv Power Systems is recalling approximately 40 school buses including 2017-2020 E-450 and F-59 models with Gen 4 EPIC powertrains, and 2020-2023 E-450, F-59, and F-53 models with Gen 5 EPIC powertrains. A wire pin in the throttle position sensor connector can loosen, causing the powertrain control module to lose signal and the vehicle to lose drive power. Motiv field support technicians will inspect and either repair or replace the PCM connector at no cost to owners.

Risk

A sudden loss of drive power while the bus is in motion can make it difficult to maintain speed or control, which significantly increases the risk of a crash.
