Summary

Fisker Group Inc. is recalling 6,864 of its 2023 Ocean vehicles because a software error in the Motor Control Unit (MCU) and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) can trigger a protection mode unexpectedly. When this happens, the vehicle may suddenly lose drive power while being operated. To fix this, Fisker will provide a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to all affected vehicles.

Risk

A sudden and unexpected loss of drive power while driving can leave the vehicle stranded in traffic or unable to maintain speed, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

What You Should Do

  1. Confirm if your vehicle is affected by checking your VIN or identifying your vehicle as a 2023 Fisker Ocean.
  2. Verify if your vehicle has already received the over-the-air (OTA) software update for the Motor Control Unit (MCU) and Vehicle Control Unit (VCU).
  3. If you have questions about the update process or your vehicle's status, contact Fisker customer service at 1-844-347-5371 and mention recall number TSB10032403.
  4. For further assistance, you may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.
